It makes a decent fist of conveying the scale and authority of the music and is full of enthusiasm when it comes to thumping out the music’s dramatic dynamic shifts. Very happy with the Fono MkII which I have used with both the Ortofon 2m Bronze and Rega Exact 2 with great results. There is always room for improvement; though sometimes that margin is so fractional it can be difficult to comprehend just how it could be achieved. With an offset volume dial, minimalist styling and mirrored rear labelling that's easy to read even if you're peering over the top of the unit, it's clear a lot of thought has gone into the Cambridge Audio Duo phono stage. But there might be a specific sound character (color) you prefer that require you to look outside the Rega product range.

I was taken by the Mini's grip on the bass - more presence and rhythm, I really found it enjoyable, gets the foot taping and the walls shaking. Of course you could upgrade within the Rega range but I think the LP12 is fundamentally better sounding record player. The iFi is willing to reach as high or low as your turntable asks it to, and treat each frequency with that same sympathy to tone and texture. That’s the equivalent effect that some phono amps can produce if all they offer is a flat 2D soundstage.

Overall, the iFi Audio Zen phono preamp parts work together to enable vinyl clarity and excellent imaging. I would caution against rumble filters because they will filter out elements of music as well as sonic issues.

Volt signal that is outputted from consumer music sources like CD players, DVD players and digital streamers with analog outputs, etc. My experience with Phono stages are I had Yamaha a-s801 and its phono stage is the weakest link of that amp. Great turntables but once you get upto the point where you can afford the Linn, that's the way to go. I changed the music to a more dynamic and bass heavy master from rock outfit T2 and It’ll All Work Out in Boomland and the track, Morning.
