About this deal

During the manufacturing, the team changed from a standard stamped metal ball retainer to a high-speed precision moulded plastic one that could be removed by skaters to allow better cleaning of the bearing. I made a video setting board with completely different components to creat a hybrid street cruiser / park capable board that I could ride anywhere and still get some tricks.

Skaters who use Bones Swiss do so because they want the very best equipment they can get and they know the difference between ordinary and exceptional. In the video I show and explain the design of the bearings and how it eliminates the need for adjustment when tightenjng down the wheel on the trucks. A skateboard wheel will rarely spin at 4700 RPM and ninety percent of the time it spins less than 2000 RPM.

The terminology ‘complete skateboard’ is used to describe a skateboard that has all the components such as the deck, trucks, wheels, bearings, and grip tape already assembled before you purchase it. Although Bones Reds are the cheapest bearings on this list, they are more than likely the most popular with skateboarders. These bearings must be tough if these guys are using them and you will understand why I say this if you have ever seen them skate. Please note you will require 2 bearings for every wheel whether Skates, Skateboard, Longboard or Scooter! For my freestyle skating I paired these with my favorite freestyle skate, my Mission Hockey DS-5s HI-LO skates.

Besides the blue shields, the most obvious difference between BIG BALLS and REDS is the number of balls inside the bearings. Acceleration, Its not horrible, but I have noticed a little more resistance at low speeds when starting from a stop compared to my other bearings, at first i thought i was crazy but i switched out for my super reds to test after the first month on big balls and i still feel the same way.I'm a fairly decent skater, i dont bawk at bombing hills and jumping gaps, or taking a dive off a 5-step. Bones Bearings developed there own rating “skate rated” which focuses on impact resistance, ball retainer type, grade of ball, materials selection and grade, appropriate lubrication and the clearance between the balls and the races. In the early 1980s, skateboarding was at a low ebb and it was difficult to find top quality bearings. High precision and small tolerances are required for bearings that run at an extremely high RPM such as in certain tools that spin at 30,000 RPM.

Go w these, don't get em wet, keep the shield on em, clean n lube once in a while, and they will last for years.

Well, Bones Swiss Ceramic bearings are made with ceramic balls that are much lighter, harder, and stronger than steel balls meaning they will last a lot longer than other bearings in the game. Bronson Speed Co and Andale Bearings are also making some solid bearings but you still can’t beat Bones Bearings for quality.

Bronson Speed Co are focused on reinventing the skateboard bearing and have spent more than two years developing the G3. Bronson Speed Co G3’s are becoming a popular bearing because professional skateboarders’ Zion Right and Milton Matinez both have G3 pro-models. Bones Bearings became the most sought after skateboard bearing in the early 1980's after George Powell teamed up with a Swiss bearing manufacturer and optimised a bearing that out performed all other bearings in a skateboard wheel.I have skateboarded for 35 years, the best bearings manufacturer I have found is bones, I liked superreds best but now I like these race even better.
