About this deal

Adams has an incredible talent of creating a story with layers. On the surface, the reader sees the humor, but as the coatings are stripped away, a raw vulnerability is discovered, treating the reader to a gamut of emotions, with love and amusement prevailing. Content: a few instances of mild swearing. Kissing- making out, behind doors intimacy with no details but you know it happens. I really wanted to love this book, but I just didn’t. The Cheat Sheet by Sarah Adams was one of my favourite books of last year. It was hilarious and I remember having a smile on my face the entire time I read it. However, for me, the Temporary Roomie completely missed the mark. If you are just starting out with reading, I think you may like this but for me personally, I have been craving more depth in the books I read, and TTR just did not have that. I didn’t feel the spark between the two main characters, and they just seemed to handle everything very immaturely. I didn't like the characters and therefore couldn't get into the storyline. It just wasn’t for me.

your girlfriend when the big day comes; but I also plan to make your life miserable—make you pay for what you did to me.This was a good book! I mean it is your typical “I hate him so f* much, let’s do pranks on each other” vibe. But then the vibe is more like “wait, I might actually like him”. But yeah, that is also what I signed up for sooo. It has the pregnancy trope, but not in a bad way. It made the book a little different, so it was nice 💛💛

turns on mic* ok everyone im just saying yall need to read sarah adams books because they're amazing *turns off mic* Okay I'm gonna repeat myself but please, just please stop showing the characters as enemies.... when one moment they're like "you're my enemy!" And playing silly pranks on each other and the next "Oh I love him". Can I ask ask authors to make the enemies seem more like enemies and not just 'oh you did this? Now I'm gonna hate you' nah that's a misunderstanding... and I find it ironic that she calls Drew 'selfish' but then she is the one who is the 'selfish' one. Only kissing, but lots of suggestive language about what they wanted to do. It wasn’t written poorly in my opinion. This book was cute, but I was hoping for a lot more from it than what I got. Also, I think I’m growing out of the enemies to lovers trope because I hardly ever read a book that is actual enemies turned lovers anymore and I’m realizing that it kinda bothers me when it’s not a true enemies starting point…The pranks, as much as they should have been hilarious, they weren't and the proposal prank was so messed up on different levels. This is honestly so stupid. AND I just couldn't wrap my head around the fact that Jessie was pregnant because yes while I do understand the mood swings pregnant women have, she was basically another immature child. Even if it’s a favorite, the enemies-to-lovers and/or the hate-to-love trope is either a hit or miss for me. This book just proves it’s a HARD miss for me.

The TemporaryRoomie is not as good as I expected. The beginning of the story, it l9oks really good then the middle part becomes boring and the last part is flat. So many tropes and such great romcom moments keep this funny story from Sarah Adams moving swiftly. It’s the second in a series but works perfectly as a standalone. Underneath all the aggressive feelings, both Drew and Jessie are kind and silly for each other. It’s a fun and slightly ditsy read, perfect for a lazy Sunday afternoon ❤️

The Temporary Roomie: A Romantic Comedy: Adams, Sarah

Drew is a doctor who has mastered the art of hiding his true thoughts and feelings. He lets Jessica – his sister’s best friend – move in to his house, even though she is his arch nemesis. That’s okay, though, Dr. Andrew. I’ll agree to your terms, move into your house, and act like your girlfriend when the big day comes; but I also plan to make your life miserable—make you pay for what you did to me. It seems like everything that could cause Jessie to detest her best friend’s brother Drew happens. He’s an attractive doctor who she knows she will fall for if she only lets herself feel. But after being abandoned by her father, her mom passing away when she was young and the father of her unborn baby high tailing it away from her, Jessie is not in a place to trust any guy. But could the pranks be hiding some real feelings?I could not put this book down. I stayed up waaaaaay into the night to finish it and didn't regret it at all. I'm ready to read it again!! 😁 Once again I'm never gonna hate anyone who enjoyed this book, it's their choice but I'm just too determined to think that now her books are definitely not for me. I just can't deal with the pettiness and the way the characters are not really adults okay? They're more like children advertised as adults. When Drew loves, he loves fiercely. He's not going anywhere, and if there is one thing I'm certain of, it's that Drew Marshall would move heaven and earth for me and my daughter, and I would do the same for him. this book is without a doubt my new favorite by sarah. jessie and drew have a ton of chemistry and i couldn’t stop smiling through the entirety of the book. let me list the tropes because they’re my top tier ones: I didn't love Jessie in the first book, but I thought maybe I'd like her more once I got into her head. Nope, I liked her even less. While some of the pranks she pulls are funny, some are mean and done with malice. She's a twenty something about to have a baby, but acts like preteen with her tantrums and whining. Drew isn't totally innocent and does play pranks too, but he also has moments where he's sweet to Jessie. Remembering foods she likes and doesn't, giving her massages when she's achy, caring about her health. I'm not sure how he put up with her ridiculousness.
