About this deal

When your pet has fleas, treating them with dog or cat flea treatment isn’t enough. Eggs and larvae will still be found on soft surfaces such as their bed, your carpets and sofa, and in the car if you take them on trips. But they can fall off your pet pretty much anywhere they have been. Many products are available over the counter or online without a prescription, other products require you to register your pet and some are prescription only.

Flea treatments do work as long as you use the treatments regularly, correctly and you remember to treat your pet AND your home. It is good when used alongside sprays beforehand, which can offer more targetted results on areas where your pet may favour such as the sofa or around their bed. Also bear in mind that they will set off any smoke alarms so disable these first. Place on a fire-safe surface. However, Indorex will only kill adult fleas for 2 months and the spray cannot penetrate the pupae. Since a flea can remain in its pupal state for up to a year before hatching you will need multiple applications to control larger infestations so we would suggest re-applying every 2 months for a year to make sure any newly hatched fleas cannot re-infest your home.

You may need to repeat this process for a few months to kill off all the fleas infesting your home, but following this advice can help get and keep your home flea-free.

Because fleas can’t be killed in their pupae life stage, they must become adults before the treatment will work on them. This can take anywhere from a few days to months, so while most products will still work for up to 12 months, you may need to reapply regularly and simply wait. However, you should see a definite improvement within a week or so. When should I use flea repellants in the home? Synthetic sprays are best, but the obvious risk of chemicals is present and you may wish to avoid them. Always look at ingredients lists and educate yourself before jumping in. Pyrethrin is very potent. Permethrin is an ingredient found in a lot of the above insecticides. It is a synthetic pyrethroid that acts as a neurotoxin on insects. Acclaim also contains an insecticide which will kill any adult fleas which continue to hatch in the first weeks following treatment

It is very toxic to cats, who cannot tolerate the therapeutic doses made for dogs. It remains much longer in cat organs compared to dogs and can be fatal in larger doses, so if you have cats, increase the recommended wait times before you allow them into the room. Products can also fall into three other classifications, which affects how they can be dispensed. Some require details of the animal, the lowest classification enables those products to be bought “over the counter”. Chemical-free, odourless and safe to use around children and pets (so you don’t have to cut off the room), it attracts fleas via a 7W heat lamp. Fleas love warmth, which is why they prefer your pet’s soft fur to your bare skin. Acclaim contains Precor, a long acting insect growth regulator which prevents flea eggs and larvae from maturing into adults - this breaks the life cycle and gives continuous protection for 12 months when used as directed. Indorex is a heavy-duty brand of indoor flea treatment intended to destroy infestations. If used correctly it is highly effective, perfect if you just want the job done or if you’ve been struggling with fleas for some time, this might be the solution for you.
