About this deal

Everyone thought she would die first due to her apparently giftless nature; she winds up having a strong poisoner gift and is the only one of her sisters to live past the age of sixteen. Luca: The High Priestess of the Rolanth temple. She has a soft spot for Mirabella, but values protecting the ways of the Goddess and the island above all. Jules and Joseph set up a picnic for Arsinoe to meet Billy. They all meet at Luke’s bookshop. Arsinoe leads Billy to the cliffs to show him a little bit of the island. He seems to really like her, and Arsinoe is not sure what to think about that. Billy even mentions being the king consort someday. Meanwhile, Joseph tells Jules he has loved her since they were children, before he was banished. They kiss.

I am so surprised I didn’t like this book because this kind of books are my kind of books. I am so pissed and disappointed. The ending part was a HUGE improvement but honestly not enough for me to actually like this. Originally from Seoul, South Korea, Kendare Blake was raised in Cambridge, Minnesota by adoptive parents. They - Katharine, Arsinoe and Mirabella - each live in different parts of the land, each have a different power, and each have a different group of supporters aiding them. This is an "in every generation, there are three chosen ones..." kind of thing. However, throughout the generations, only one sister can claim the throne, and she must do so by murdering the other two.

This series provides examples of:

Madrigal Milone: Jules’s mom. She’s a naturalist, but is also a talented witch who can wield the frowned-upon low magic. Her relationship with Jules is… complicated. To be a queen is to be cursed. Two have a fate of death, while only one will rule. Knowing this makes you want to resist connecting with the characters too much. Unfortunately, I found something I enjoyed about each of the sisters. I may have changed who I’m rooting for several times and even now am not sure who my actual favorite is. But if the plot rings true, only one can live. Fleming, Mike Jr. (2019-04-12). "Warner Bros, 21 Laps Option Kendare Blake Short Story 'On The I-5' ". Deadline. Archived from the original on 2019-04-14 . Retrieved 2019-09-13. Mirabella has traveled to the western coast and is hungry and weary. A storm blows in. She notices a sailboat is capsizing and sees a lone sailor in the water beside it. Mirabella uses her magic to save him and pull him to shore. They are both soaked, and the boy is unconscious and cold. She starts a campfire on the beach to dry their clothes and then uses her body heat to warm him up and saves his life. When Joseph regains consciousness, they have sex. But what Really took the cake was the manner in which some (most, let’s face it) of the women were depicted. THIS. This is what got to me.

This sister for sure had the happiest upbringing, with friends and found family that actually loves her unconditionally. Sadly, she hasn’t developed any of her naturalist powers, but her best friend, Jules, is one of the strongest to have ever lived. She is desperate to develop any magical affinity, and starts tampering with magic that she probably shouldn’t, because this magic always comes with a price.

Must reads

Mirabella is sweet, confident, and really does not want to kill her sisters. She is also fiercely loyal and will protect her friends at all costs. She can be a bit prim and proper, as queens are expected to be. Mirabella is the most sensitive of the sisters. She is the only one who remembers their shared six years together. many people believed her to be cold and desired to kill her sisters, however this is only a rumour. she loves her sisters, and this is evident when she tries to protect them as a young child.

In the end battle of Five Dark Fates, Mirabella and Katharine are reunited in spirit as a part of the mist and destroy the last of the dead queens before they reach Arsinoe. Modest Royalty: The naturalist queens are raised without ceremony, dirt on the nose and running wild. This makes them the people's queens and rather beloved by the masses. Arsinoe- while modest and unconcerned by appearances- is not beloved by the majority of the people of Wolf Spring. She is not a naturalist but a poisoner. At the bonfire that night, Jules leads Joseph to her tent and wants to have sex with him, as they always planned to do on the night of Beltane. Joseph stops her and apologizes, saying he just wants to hold her. Pietyr makes Katharine promise that if anything seems out of sorts, she will run and meet him at the Breccia Domain. She asks him if he trusts Natalia. He says he does, but he still thinks things could go wrong. She promises to go to him. Bree and Elizabeth help dress Mirabella for her performance. She will be wearing very little clothing and her fire will cover the rest of her. The three girls discuss how the priestesses are acting strange, and that there is something in the air they can’t put their finger on. Madrigal is working on another low magic potion with Arsinoe. She asks Arsinoe if Jules told her she saw her with Matthew. Arsinoe didn’t know but is disgusted with Madrigal. Madrigal explains that the potion is made with water, Arsinoe’s blood, and the bear’s blood. She will have to drink it. It won’t make the bear her familiar, but it should link them.

Unfortunately for these sisters, the beginning of the Ascension Year looms ever nearer. With alliances being formed, betrayals taking shape, and ruthless revenge haunting the queens’ every move, one thing is certain: the last queen standing might not be the strongest but she may be the darkest. There's more coming soon like ALL THESE BODIES and a new fantasy series, so don't waste another minute on your cryin. We're nowhere near the end. Mirabella: One of the triplet queens destined to enter the fight to the death to become queen-crowned of Fennbirn Island. She’s an elemental, meaning she can control earth, air, fire, water, or weather, and is impervious to cold and heat. She’s the strongest elemental queen the island has seen in years, and believes herself to be the frontrunner in the competition for the crown. She has the support of the Rolanth Temple behind her.Kendare Blake is a contemporary author of young adult novels. Her works include Anna Dressed in Blood, Antigoddess and Three Dark Crowns. Following her death, Arsinoe and Pietyr watch as the mist destroys what is left of the dead queens. In the mist, she sees Illian, Mirabella, Daphne and Katharine all destroying the dead queens together. Arsinoe is a naturalist. She should be able to make flowers bloom, have control over animals, and have an animal familiar. She cannot do any of these things and is still waiting on her gift. Her best friend Jules has an extremely strong naturalist gift giving her a mountain cat as a familiar. Arsinoe tried to escape her fate years ago by running away, but the island wouldn’t let her go leading to the banishment of Jules’ boy. One of the best things about Arsinoe is her loyalty to her friends. I love that the power of friendship truly means something to her.
