About this deal

The books of this series are highly appreciated by readers from around the world. The tremendous success of this series has established Craig Alanson as a prominent author of the science fiction genre. Although truthfully, my dogs could write a better book than the one I read. That book set a pretty low bar. Like, a snake could not limbo under that bar. Ooh! Ooh! Will you tell us what that awful book was? The characters are well developed and banter has some military lingo. Most of the dialog is on the light side which keeps the story moving and interesting. Ascendant is a trilogy, and there are three books, so, no. However, my wife loves Ascendant and when she read the last line of the third book, she looked at me and said ‘You son of a bitch’. The second half was more fun. Our main character, Joe Bishop, has been imprisoned by aliens in a makeshift planetside brig. Here he finds an ancient AI embodied as a beer can. The AI, who Joe dubs Skippy, is a snarky and absent minded asshole with amazing abilities (which it keeps bragging about). It helps Joe and a team of volunteers get off the ironically named planet of Paradise to

When I grew weary of listening and wanted to speed-read, I opened the book. Oops. Oodles and oodles of grammatical errors. I suppose the narrator had to proofread it — put the commas and periods where they belong — before he could narrate with such superb flow. Good on him. No. I respect the author, and he has written other books I like, and he stated in an interview that was not his best book. The guy had an off day. Or year. Anyway, it worked out well for me! Do you have a fabulous sister? (question submitted by my sister)Expeditionary Force. Tom 1. Dzień Kolumba – Craig Alanson – ebook + audiobook". legimi.pl . Retrieved December 7, 2021. Let me ask YOU a question: if you work your job five days a week, 48+ weeks a year, does anyone call you ‘prolific’? No. That is just called ‘working’ unless you are a writer. Somehow, the bar is set incredibly low for writers. It used to be that if a writer published one typically 90k-word book a year, they were ‘prolific’. Now the world has changed. Were you ever in the armed forces? It would have been better if Joe had been surrounded by a few solid secondary characters, so we could hear them speak more. Joe had friends, but they came and went, first on Earth, then on planet Paradise. Just when I thought he finally had a little team of former army buddies, he was transferred. Then he had a group of three new soldiers placed under his command. But then he was called away from that group. So....no go. Her argument was very persuasive. So, I thought about it and, darn it, my brain started imagining what the continued story would be like and now I can’t wait to write it. When I will have time to squeeze another 150,000-word book in my schedule is a good question. Craig, when will you have time to squeeze a (or possibly more than one) 150,000-word Ascendant book in your schedule?

My theory is she hopes her suffering in this life will be rewarded in her next life (like she will be married to Chris Hemsworth).

MORE NEWS

The Expeditionary Force book series is a wonderful series of science fiction, military fiction, and space opera novels. It is written by a well-known American novelist named Craig Alanson. Every book features a different space mission conducted under the command of the United Nations. These operations are termed as special operations and the task force sent to carry out the missions are the members of an elite group of soldiers called the Expeditionary Force. IMHO, it is the ability to tell a story. If you don’t have an interesting story to tell, and you don’t know how to tell it in an interesting way, it doesn’t matter how ‘good a writer’ you are. If you are that person who doesn’t know how to tell a good joke at a party, you are probably not going to be a successful writer. The Ruhar (or "Hamsters," because they look like six-foot hamsters, when they aren't in powered armor) are the aliens who invaded. The Kristang (or "lizards," because they look like, well, humanoid lizards) are humanity's new allies. Sgt. Bishop arrives with an international team on a former Ruhar colony world. Apparently the Kristang just captured it, and per some treaty (the Ruhar-Kristang war has been going on for a long time), the Ruhar are being allowed to evacuate on a months-long timetable. Bishop and his people will be serving garrison duty. Unfortunately, the constant use of humor was a bit of a two edged sword. I’m all for a good bit of mindless entertainment every now and then, but this was a bit much for me. Some of the writing was over the top glib and the cheese factor was strong at times. The first half in particular was a bit of a struggle, and until we meet Skippy I thought this book was heading for a 2 star rating. You get to keep a greater % of your book’s sale price. There is no publisher taking a big chunk of the revenue, and you don’t have to pay an agent 15% of the money you earn.
