About this deal

He'd thought it was a hopeless endeavour, until he met her. She's not afraid of him, and his insatiable desire deepens What I love the most is the dark fantasy world the writer created, the details about it that unfold from chapter to chapter, the monsters, races and magic and how everything works. It has a creepy vibe, and I'm all here for it.

Ladies, just because your man treats you nicely doesn't mean that his ex, who is still dealing with PTSD from being his first partner, is evil.

The story follows Reia, lone survivor of her family’s brutal murder at the hands of a bunch of demons turned sacrifice by the local townspeople, who plan to offer her to the Duskwalker to rid them of her bad juju and to ensure their protection from the demons who terrorize them nightly. This book is for you. Don’t pretend that you’ve never wanted to be railed by some human eating, dark entity that has a skull for a face – you saw the cover, you knew what you were getting yourself into, and you still chose to open this book and read it. The story was steamy (3/5), after a gradual stroking-the-flames build-up. Be prepared for some surprising dirty talk from our sweet hero and some creativity in their uniting. (You will welcome a picture of our hero’s inner workings once you read.) Also, expect some eye-orbed jealousy as other characters are introduced. This is a beauty and the beast retelling, with a very different ending than we're used to. It was deeply erotic, with a well executed plot. She knew she hadn’t screamed, hadn’t tried to run, hadn’t done anything but wait as her family was eaten. It had been dark which made it hard to see.

She loves everything spicy, smutty, and everything boarder-line monster loving. She started writing because of her love of the written word, and because she wanted to build a diverse world of mythological creatures, while also showing the beauty of all ethnicities of humanity. She thrives to produce a plot driven, character developing book while sprinkling in enchanting imagery. I don’t know what I was expecting – like I’m all for a monster and dark romance and having to control urges but this just made me laugh I-I thought you were going to eat me,” she whispered, her hands falling limply next to her in the snow.It left me sitting there after finishing it for a few moments to take it all in and mourn the fact that it was over. And now I’m upset that I’m never going to be able to experience reading it for the first time again! Because, wow, this book was utterly incredible!! Orpheus is adorable with his determination to provide Reia with anything she could possibly need. His loneliness and fear that he will lose Reia, as he has lost so many before, is heartbreaking. His need to keep her safe and happy overcame even his most basic hunter instincts. I loved how he eventually felt secure about Reia and her feelings for him. He’d thought it was a hopeless endeavour, until he met her. She’s not afraid of him, and his insatiable desire deepens within every moment of her presence.

This was gonna be a 3-star review up until the 80% mark, at which point I was genuinely angry at the way they decided to handle things, so down to 1-star we go.The world that Reyne has created is gorgeously rich and intriguing and builds on lore that is mixed with hints of known mythology and new expanses that have been, meticulously crafted. It left me wanting to know more about the lore behind not only the characters but also the creatures and world around them. However, when it comes to the final conflict, we’re reminded of how ugly the act is in reality. If just once Orpheus had given Katerina the choice to leave, it would’ve come across differently—but he didn’t. And so, we have a villain who is portrayed as a snobbish, selfish woman (who, out of fear, didn’t say “no” to a horrifying monster she saw kill many people), coming across as sympathetic in a way I do not think the author intended.

But I am shameless enough to admit I read alllll the sex, which was interesting to say the least lol.Reia was a joy to get to know. Despite having a horrible life before Orpheus she remained pragmatic and future focussed. I found it amusing that she didn't want to admit to her feelings for Orpheus and kept talking herself out of leaving by making very lame excuses. I loved Reia. She’s the type of character that was incredibly relatable. She’s intelligent, strong, and determined, but most of all, she can see the good in people. Orpheus is a monster, but oh, if he isn’t the sweet4est monster! I really felt for him. He was simply looking for someone to love him as he is. I absolutely adored this book and everything about it and the characters. I initially read it on KU and then bought myself a kindle copy and a physical copy for my bookshelf. The book is long, and I struggled with that too. I think some of the side ‘danger’ could have been cut a bit (for me).
