About this deal

There were SO many times where super awkward word choices were used here that reminded me of that scene. Charlotte lives in Rhode Island and when she isn’t writing spends her free time reading, at the beach, or snuggling with her Australian Shepherd. When our paths cross again senior year, that knowledge becomes even more dangerous than his suggestive smirk.

Sometimes, I felt like the rivalry between the two towns was a little overplayed--because surely, there isn't anything really like that--but I wasn't born and raised in a small town--so maybe it is. I feel this could be a sister movie to She's The Man which was adapted from my favourite play Twelfth Night. I could envision the two towns with their lives lead by this age old feud and how Maeve and Wes felt drawn to each other, but conflicted by the rivalry that wouldn’t support them. Second, I raise to you this: He deliberately made out with a girl he used to hook up with in front of the heroine in an attempt to HURT her because if he’s in pain (over some bullshit, I remind you), so should she…. She bites her lower lip, and we’re close enough I can see the enticing pink retreat from the indentations her teeth are making.Sometimes with books where the main guy character is a popular and well-liked jock, the girl is shy and nerdy or whatever.

And one memorable kiss etched forever in their hearts is enough of an incentive to sneak around and steal stolen kisses, exchange warm affection and tender touches, and prove to the other that if not for this inane competitiveness between their towns, they would not hide in the shadows. This book reminded me of the Off-Campus series, but much milder sex scenes - which really isn’t a bad thing at all!

I absolutely had the time of my life reading this because it reminded me of the Wattpad stories I’d read during math class lmao. There is sex but it is more glossed over and fades to grey (not black) and lacks details of a more adult book. Homegirl was a Mary Sue but she was the only character with some semblance of depth in this entire book. It felt like maybe the author wrote it quickly and didn’t want to put thought into scenes outside of the two love birds.

She’s from the wrong side of the field, and he’s playing the wrong sport, the opposing sport of her own twin. And aside from the romance, I also appreciated how it also centered around their own personal lives at home and at school. You can change your choices at any time by visiting Cookie preferences, as described in the Cookie notice. They confided in each other about the ways of the world, about the issues they faced, and I think if they had been any different in their characters their roles, they never would’ve shared it. I mean, just read the synopsis for this (which I will admit I did not before I started reading it) and you'll get a small taste of it. I was disappointed with the lack of depth in the characters and even more so with the male narrator. As I started, it’s a bit YA (but more adult than most) but it does stay true to that vibe and had a lot more meat-on-the-bones than other stories. Yes, sometimes, on occasion, you will find me reading a M/F book, like Kiss Now, Lie Later - no judgments, please.
