Sometimes the novels chosen are new, often they are from the backlist and occasionally re-issued from way back. I have decided to stop saying that I don’t like reading YA because this is the second one I have really enjoyed in as many months. She somehow manages to circle it round to make you realise that it was due to her own lack of self-love. I did find the ending to be somewhat abrupt, and another 50 pages could have provided a more satisfactory conclusion to the twist at the end (although it does pave the way for a sequel). I listened to the audio version and the cadence of Michelle’s voice, especially when her father died, really moved me.

There is a lot of work to do and I for one am energised and ready to keep working towards that future where equality isn't just a wishful thinking buzz word but a reality. Having grown up in north London, my knowledge of people falling into ‘road’ life is not quite the same as Cyn’s and Isaac’s knowledge - and experience - of it. I will push it aside to let the other person know that although I’m hurt or angry, I still love them.

For 220 pages Cynthia explores the most romantic love story, I just knew something was going to blow it up but MAN, that twist at the end slapped. I want to show my little community my true authentic self and unfortunately, I can’t commit to everyday posting. Now, whilst I don't want to take away the subject matter from this book, I really feel that this book lacked a plot. Whilst there are hints of a rivalry brewing between the brothers, their relationship and family dynamics could have been explored more, especially with the context of their hugely different childhoods.
